Nobody picks a hotel by its elevator, but the engineers behind the world's tallest towers absolutely do. The race to build higher has always meant building faster — these five passenger elevators each held or broke a speed record, and the gap between them is bigger than you'd guess. Rank them by top speed, because standing still has never been an option above the 100th floor.
